Hope (in Tribulation) and Pray
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Rom. 12:12
This we all know:
The Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) first broke out in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and is spreading across the world. It has brought out the best and the worst in human behaviour. It has brought people together; it has also set them apart. It has caused many to panic and some to behave coolly and calmly. It has struck the panicky ones with fear, worry, anxiety and to behave irrationally. People panic because they do not want to suffer, be inconvenienced, be agonized and, worst of all, die as a result. And really, it is death that they want to avoid. But death is one happening, no one has control over. To Believers, Christ is the centre of our lives and we are not fearful of the circumstances surrounding our lives. He does not warrant protection from death but affirms that God alone controls our life. Being a Christian does not shield us from death or accident. The comfort is that no death or accident can prevail over the purpose of God in our life. Read the article “ARE YOU FEARFUL OF DEATH?” By Rev. David Lim appearing in our website under “RESOURCES – Articles.”
This is what we all should do:
Continue with the usual daily routine, living in Christ and praying fervently, with the blessed assurance expressed by the Apostle Paul, “Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil.4:5-7. And Jesus Christ affirms: “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7. God is perfect and sublime; and with Him all things are possible, nothing is impossible.
In the present circumstances, pray for the Lord to:
a) enable peace and calm behaviour to prevail worldwide;
b) enable and empower all those who are working towards bringing the virus under control and solution with His wisdom, understanding and guidance;
c) protect all from being infected by the virus;
d) cure all those who are infected.
Let us join hearts in praying:
“Gracious Heavenly Father, our Lord and our God – sovereign and supreme; in all ways perfect and sublime. You are all Love! Have mercy on us and graciously bless us with your love and care. Bless us with your peace, the peace which surpasses all understanding, keeping us calm. Enable and empower all those who are working towards bringing the virus under control and solution with your wisdom, understanding and guidance. Protect us from infection; and, cure those who are already infected with your divine healing. At this time, lead us to glorify you with our acts of love – through prayer and deeds - towards our fellowman as worthy and loyal disciples of Jesus Christ. We commit to you especially our SALT Fellowship partners and collaborators, beneficiaries, members, associates, volunteers and resource personnel – all you provided us to establish and grow our SALT Fellowship – and their loved ones.
In your lovingkindness, in your mercies, in your graciousness; have mercy on us, forgive us and bless us, accepting our prayers and supplications and blessing us with all that we are praying for. We pray and ask, with thanks, in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen!"
In His Service,
SALT Fellowship Management Committee.
Prayer should be the first recourse and not the last resort. Jesus Christ reminds us “..for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5b). But “…whatever you ask in prayer you will receive, if you have faith” (Matt. 21:22). Thus, this Ministry must also be a praying community to “…pray without ceasing.” (I Thes.5:17) – for God’s enablement and empowerment as we discharge the responsibility SALT Fellowship is called to. “Pray with Passion and Communicate with Compassion” is the motto of our SALT Fellowship. Pray for the continued growth of this ministry; the spiritual well-being, commitment and protection of all our ministry associates; pray for the wisdom, understanding and guidance of the Holy Spirit on our Leaders and Volunteers; pray for more Volunteers to serve in this ministry and to receive His blessing.
